Buried Dreams

A refugee center burns, and in the smoking ruins the police find the remains of Thok Lado, a refugee from Sudan. The investigation reveals that the young man was dead before the fire broke out. Police detective Bruno Cavalli is convinced that the key to finding the murderer is the victim himself, but public prosecutor Regina Flint insists that Cavalli focus his investigation on the person to whom all the initial evidence points: the ambiguous and mysterious pastor of the local church, whose rectory is a meeting place for several young men in the neighborhood known for their hatred of foreigners.

“Buried Dreams” takes up current political topics, including the trend toward increased restrictions in granting asylum. It tells of prejudice and isolation, smoldering love and unfulfilled wishes.

“Buried Dreams” (German: Tote Träume) is the second case taken on by Regina Flint and Bruno Cavalli.

“She writes really well and can maintain suspense across nearly four hundred pages.  What more could a reader want from a crime novel?”
