Silent Lies

The relief organization «Teamwork» is about to be certified by ZEWO, a Swiss organization that certifies non-profit organizations financed by charitable donations. Then, Isabelle Jenny, Teamwork’s project manager in Georgia, disappears without a trace, and Philippe Knecht, Teamwork’s bookkeeper, is found dead in his home. Was it suicide, or murder?

Public prosecutor Regina Flint uses her vacation in the Southern Caucasus to hunt for her old school friend: why did Isabelle suddenly start spending time in social circles she had previously avoided, full of Swiss exiles, Georgian high society, business people? But Flint and convalescent police detective Bruno Cavalli are confronted by a wall of silence everywhere they turn in their investigation. And when the Georgian police take them into custody, what was planned as a relaxing vacation turns into a nightmare.

“Silent Lies” (German: Stille Lügen) is the fourth case involving Regina Flint and Bruno Cavalli.

“Petra Ivanov takes us through Georgia with the x-ray vision of a journalist, introduces the country and its people, and, at the end, ties together all the criminalistic threads of the story – convincingly, masterfully, and full of suspense right to the last page.”
